Shayla Praud

Hello everyone! My name is ShaylaPraud and I am entering my second year  in the JD/JID program at UVIC, which stands on the traditional territory of the Songhees, Esquimalt and WSÁNEĆ peoples.

I served as the first year representative of the Indigenous Law Students Association (ILSA) last year, and I am honored to once again be representing ILSA as the upper year representative for the 2020/2021 academic year.

Although my matrilineal family is originally from the Nisga’a nation, I was raised in traditional Snuneymuxw territory (Nanaimo) and have lived on Songhees and Esquimalt territory for the last few years.

I have a passion for health and fitness and prior to attending law school I studied Sport, Health and Physical Education at Vancouver Island University.
