I’m Radu and I am proud to be your Vice-President, Student Affairs. I grew up in and have spent most of my life in Ottawa, which is a more interesting city than people usually give it credit for. I did a Physics degree as well as a Bachelor of Education at the University of Ottawa, Having had enough of that, I then made what turned out to be a life-altering trip out west to UVic.
Outside of class, I am often found brunching, cajoling people into going to trivia events, and spending more time than is probably healthy in the Fraser Building lounge. Truth be told, I’m a bit of an old-timer at heart. I like old-timey music, old-timey dancing, old-timey movies, old-timey fashions, old-timey architecture; and I daresay I often look with fondess upon the prospect of indulging in that form of elegant and graceful idiomatic expression which, though de rigeur in years gone by, has so frequently been found elusive in contemporary discourse. I also am a big fan of Monty Python, Hamilton (the musical), remembering large quantities of obscure facts, and bagged milk.
I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I moved across the country to a city where I knew no one, but I quickly found that UVic Law is truly a unique place with an outstanding community. It became a home away from home for me, and I am looking forward to doing what I can to help make it just as welcoming to everyone else and to make YOUR life at law school better! If you’ve got any suggestions or questions (about law school, life, humanity’s place in the cosmos, etc.), or you’re looking for someone to chat with, please drop me a line (or, really, just find me somewhere in the Fraser building 90% of the time).firstname.lastname@example.org
