FAQ

How is this different from other elections?

ALL LSS, faculty committee and faculty council positions are open!

What is the difference between LSS positions and faculty committee positions and faculty council positions?

LSS positions - attend weekly LSS meetings as the liaison between the LSS and the student body for your particular area (e.g., Sports and Clubs Rep handles all things intramural and clubs-related; 3L Rep brings 3L-related issues forward and plans grad-related events like Grad Banquet and grad photos)

Faculty Committee positions - attend and participate in faculty committee meetings as a student representative and express student concerns for that particular area of the law school (e.g., Admissions Committee Representative, Library Committee Representative)

Faculty Council Representative - attend monthly Faculty Council meetings where the faculty committees give updates and voice student opinions on matters such as hiring, construction, new faculty committees, etc.

 What positions are open?

All of them! Take a look at our website for more information about each position, at uviclss.ca/elections (NOTE: the positions list on the website will be updated this week)

Where can I find out more about each position? How do I know if I’m eligible for a certain position?

Our website is the hub for all things LSS-related, and we have an elections page to answer all your questions! ALSO join the LSS at our meeting on Tuesday, March 19th at 12:30 PM in FRA 157 to ask current LSS members directly about their positions

When will the results be posted?

The results are sent to me from the UVic Voting office and are typically sent out within a day of the voting closing. An email with the names of successful candidates will be sent out once I receive the results.

What if I have more questions that aren’t answered?

Feel free to send me an email at vpsa.uviclss@gmail.com and Kaitlyn will happily answer any elections-related questions you may have :)
